Does it taste like peas?

We can’t speak for everyone, but many Sproud drinkers describe the flavour as natural and creamy. No hint of peas.

Is it green?

No. (Except for the Matcha ofc!)

 

Why does it contain oil?

We use rapeseed oil (aka non-GMO rapeseed oil in North America) for that silky-smooth texture. Scroll up to “Fats and Oils” for the in-depth version.

Nej, alla Sproud-produkter är 100 % nötfria.”

 

(Obs: i Nordamerika produceras Sproud i en anläggning där även mandelmjölk tillverkas, men noggrann rengöring säkerställer att ingen korskontaminering sker. På andra marknader sker produktionen i nötfria anläggningar.)

Är det glutenfritt?

Japp! Sproud är fri från alla vanliga allergier, du kan läsa mer om det längre upp på sidan.

 

 

Är det säkert vid diabetes?

Japp! Alla Sproud-produkter har låg sockerhalt, men om du håller koll på ditt intag är Sproud Unsweetened eller Sproud Barista Zero din bästa vän med 0 g socker. Vi är stolta över att vara Sugarwise-certifierade, vilket innebär att alla våra sockerpåståenden är korrekta och verifierade. Den lilla Sugarwise-loggan? Det är din garanti för att vi håller allt med låg sockerhalt, rena ingredienser och i linje med WHO:s rekommendationer.

 

 

Är det ekologiskt?

Inte ännu. Vi utvecklar en ekologisk version av Sproud. Under tiden väljer vi noggrant ingredienser som uppfyller våra viktigaste prioriteringar: god smak, len konsistens, pålitlig funktion i varma drycker och matlagning samt ett minimalt klimatavtryck.

Hur gör man mj*lk av ärtor?

Vi börjar med enkla gula delade ärtor och förädlar dem för att extrahera deras rena ärtproteinisolat (huvudingrediensen). Detta protein blandas sedan med vatten, vegetabiliska oljor, vitaminer, mineraler och en nypa salt för att skapa våra goda växtbaserade drycker. Blandningen homogeniseras noggrant under högt tryck för att få den lena, krämiga konsistens du älskar, och värms sedan snabbt upp med ultrahög temperatur (UHT)-ånga för att hålla den säker och fräsch utan att kompromissa med näringsämnena. Slutligen kyls den ner och packas i aseptisk förpackning, vilket bevarar god smak, kvalitet och lång hållbarhet, redo för dig att njuta av.

Är det mjölkfritt?

Ja! Det är gjort på ärtor och 100% veganskt.

Why are Sproud’s products based on peas?

THE IDEAL SOURCE OF SUSTAINABLE PROTEIN

Split peas are rich in proteins and contain a wide range of essential amino acids.

SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

The pea plant has the amazing ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen in the soil through its symbiotic relationship with soil-borne bacteria. The nitrogen-fixing properties not only reduce nitrogen in the atmosphere but also improve soil fertility and the aggregation and conservation of water. Split peas also require less water, land, and energy than most other crops. By including peas in a crop rotation cycle, the yields, and energy efficiency increase up to 25% for years to come.

ALL-ROUND SUPERHERO

The split pea is rich in proteins and nutrients, reduces atmospheric nitrogen, and requires less non-renewable energy. Split peas also improve soil fertility, increase the farmland’s productivity, promote farm and soil biodiversity, and help keep harmful pests and diseases at bay without pesticides. Our Sproud Iced Coffee drinks are Fairtrade-certified. The Fairtrade certified ingredients are coffee, sugar, and agave syrup. What is Potassium Phosphate?

Dipotassium Phosphate is a potassium salt. It is a natural mineral and we add Dipotassium Phosphate to our Unsweetened, Original, Barista and Vanilla products to regulate the pH (acidity). Without the Dipotassium Phosphate the product would curdle in coffee and tea as they generally have a low pH (pH <5) which causes a separation of the fat and liquid within pea m*lk. An acidity regulator is therefore an essential addition in plant-based m*lk alternatives if they are aimed to be used in coffee, tea or for cooking.

Many acidity regulators can be used in foods. We have chosen an acidity regulator with characteristics that match our pea m*lk by adding natural minerals to the product while not affecting the smooth and neutral taste of our pea m*lk.

 

Dipotassium Phosphate is regarded as a safe additive to use in foods and is approved by EFSA (European food safety authority), FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) and other similar authorities all around the world.

We do not add Dipotassium Phosphates to Sproud Chocolate products since cacao naturally has a similar ability to regulate the acidity in the product.

Where does the coffee originate from?

It is important for us that we provide you with great coffee with consistent taste over time. Since the quality of the coffee beans can differ from year to year and region to region due to environmental factors (i.e. weather conditions, such as the amount of rain, drought, amount of sun hours, yield etc.), the coffee beans are sourced from several different Fairtrade certified farms. Therefore our Fairtrade-certified coffee does not originate from one specific region. The beans are then mixed together until we receive our specific characteristic preference.

Where does the pea protein originate from?

Our yellow split pea is sourced and processed into pea protein isolate in France.

By using peas from fields close to the pea protein factory, we can reduce transportation distance and our climate footprint. At Sproud, we are very proud of the purity and quality of our pea protein isolate and are continuously searching for high-quality pea protein isolate that we can source close to our production sites.

Proteinbaserad vs kolhydratbaserad mj*lk?

På Sproud är huvudingrediensen i våra drycker ärtproteinisolat, vilket gör det möjligt för oss att ta fram produkter med hög proteinhalt utan att behöva tillsätta kolhydrater eller socker. Faktum är att vissa av våra produkter, specifikt Sproud Unsweetened och Sproud Barista Zero, inte innehåller några sockerarter eller kolhydrater alls, samtidigt som de har ett högt proteininnehåll.

 

Växtbaserade drycker gjorda på spannmål, såsom havre, innehåller kolhydrater eftersom spannmål naturligt är rika på stärkelse. Vid produktion av spannmålsbaserade drycker kan enzymer användas för att bryta ner en del av stärkelsen till enklare sockerarter, vilket bidrar till produktens naturliga sockerinnehåll. På samma sätt bryter enzymer under matsmältningen i kroppen ner kolhydrater, inklusive stärkelse, till monosackarider, främst glukos, som kan tas upp och användas som energi.

 

Kort sagt leder olika växtbaserade ingredienser därför till olika näringssammansättningar. Vissa konsumenter föredrar alternativ med högre proteinhalt, som Sproud, medan andra väljer spannmålsbaserade drycker beroende på smakpreferens eller hur produkten ska användas, till exempel i kaffe, matlagning eller smoothies.
