THIS IS
THE POINT
IT’S A PLANT-BASED THING
We’re on a mission to transform the food system with delicious, nutritious plant-based products. Why? Because, in general, diets that are higher in plant-based foods and lower in animal-based foods are associated with less environmental impact (GHG emissions and energy, land, and water use) than the current average ‘meat-based’ diet (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change [IPCC], 2019).
And, several Sproud products compare well with other plant-based m*lks when it comes to climate footprint, and especially well compared to dairy milk:
In a comparison using CarbonCloud data, based on life cycle accounting and using the same cradle-to-delivery scope for each product calculation, Sproud Unsweetened had the lowest climate footprint (0.24kg CO2e/kg of product) compared to average climate-footprint data for soy, oat and rice m*lks and dairy milk sold in Sweden.
We calculate and verify the climate footprint of all our products in Sweden, the United Kingdom and Poland using a third-party software, CarbonCloud. See the live carbon footprint for all Sproud products here.
THE PROOF IS IN THE PEAS
Made from yellow split peas, Sproud is the alternative to the alternatives. Peas are not only high in protein, but also nitrogen-fixing, meaning they contribute to soil fertility by naturally adding nitrogen to the soil and reducing the need for synthetic nitrogen fertilisers in suitable crop rotations. As a crop, peas can also support more diverse crop rotations and contribute to soil health and biodiversity when grown as part of appropriate farming practices.
Of course, we don’t just rely on the pea’s inherent benefits to reduce our impact on the planet and people. We continuously work across our value chain to innovate and improve within our four sustainability pillars:
– Reduce our climate impact (C02)
– Increase the consumption of plant-based food
– Be a responsible, inclusive and conscious workplace
– Foster resource-efficient partnerships in production, distribution and research

VERIFICATIONS
& CERTIFICATIONS
CERTIFIED B CORPORATION
In 2025, we achieved B Corp certification, joining a global movement of changemakers. This was a huge milestone for us, as it means we meet B Lab’s high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
What is a B Corp?
B Corp Certification means that a company has been verified as meeting B Lab’s high standards for social and environmental impact, that it has made a legal commitment to stakeholder governance, and that it is demonstrating accountability and transparency by disclosing this record of performance in a public B Corp profile.
Why it matters
Becoming a B Corp is more than just a certification; since the process to reach the standard is so rigorous, it means we must have high levels of responsibility in all we do. Plus, this isn’t just a one-off. To maintain our B Corp status, we must recertify every three years, ensuring that we continuously improve and remain accountable.
ISO 26000 VERIFIED
Sproud was (and still is!) the first food company to be verified (by a third-party auditor) according to ISO 26000. It’s an international standard that commits companies to sustainable and, in particular, socially responsible ways of doing business.
